![]() The arenas you play in range across seventeen locations, all of which have some peril attached to them. I lost horribly after my son figured out how to head-butt me to the ground where I laid prone for precious seconds while he scurried away and managed to score, all why I and he were choking from laughing so much at the ridiculous nature of it. I collared my football mad son to play with me on this mode and it devolved into a 15 minute match of grabbing and dropkicking each other to score a goal. There are a few modes to choose from: a wave mode that pitches you either solo or with a friend against a wave of incredibly capable AI combatants, a general brawl mode where played against other human players with the goal of being the last beast standing and a football mode which is limited to one arena and hilariously manages to capture the casual violence of an impromptu football match with friends. The physics reminded me very much of Goat Simulator (just so you can get an idea of how bad they are), but unlike that game Gang Beasts is actually fun. The imprecise nature of the controls, combined with some truly dreadful physics lend themselves to insane and often very amusing matches as you thrash about accidentally landing drop-kicks and inexplicably falling over. Your move set is fairly limited, you can jump, climb and grab onto objects, lift your arms into the air which is incredibly useful for throwing a prone opponent off the side, head-butt and flail your arms wildly. The controls are reasonably intuitive, however a lack of any tutorial to familiarise yourself with them means that your first few matches are a hilarious mismatch of accidentally landing drop-kicks and head-butts while also wobbling around the environment without a clue how to do anything. It is often lung busting in its hilarity, but extended play shows up its very obvious weaknesses. Matches take place on a variety of vertiginous and hazard filled environments where you duke it out to be the last blob standing. Gang Beasts is a multiplayer brawler with a cast of gelatinous creatures imbued with ridiculous physics. Gang Beasts is no exception to this loose rule, albeit in very small doses. ![]() ![]() There is a lot to be said for the party game: often a small throwaway game that doesn’t merit extended play, but in small doses and in the right company it’s usually an absolute delight. ![]()

![]() ![]() So, in the story he had to teach me how to crank that Winchester. In first scene that day Randolph Scott was to teach me you can do a lot of things with one hand and one arm. When I showed Monday, Budd said that was beautiful. Over the weekend I learned to crank it with one hand. I picked up the script and went to props and took home the Winchester. I told Budd I had an idea about my character using a Winchester. I was under contract to Warner Bros., making $275 a week, which was fine. ![]() Budd Boetticher gave me my first opportunity to star in a motion picture, and that was Westbound. What was it like working with directors Budd Boetticher and Sam Fuller? I got you.” That was the beginning of my love of sports, my love of movies and my love of Westerns. We drilled a hole in the top of a broomstick and pulled a string through like reins, put a pad in the middle of the broomstick, and that would be our horse. When we played cowboys and Indians, I was the only one who’d play the Indian. We’d sit there and idolize all of them and wanted to be just like them. I had a great love for Buck Jones, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Ken Maynard, John Wayne and all the great stars that did Westerns in those days. If we had a nickel, we’d buy a Baby Ruth or a Mounds, and that would be lunch or early dinner, because we’d stay and watch two shows. Everybody would exit out of the side instead of going out the front. After the first running of the movie and the serials, they would open the side doors. We didn’t have any money, but theaters had exit doors. Who was your favorite ballplayer and what movies did you like as a boy? The Washington Senators invited me to spring training in 1955 in Orlando, Fla., and the first moment I put on the uniform, I sat by my locker, turned my back on everyone and just shed tears. Number two was, without a doubt, putting on the major league uniform. When I received that bonus, the first thing I did was buy our family a brand-new four-door Buick-whitewall tires, radio and heater. I was underage but signed to a pro contract with a $6,000 bonus. What are some favorite memories from your days playing pro baseball? So I never really got a chance to share with the audience what I eventually was going to contribute to the character and the story. Custer became a very bad name, unfortunately, so we were off after 17 shows. I could make a wonderful marriage to this character and do something exciting and interesting and show to the American audience what kind of man and leader he was.īut passed away after the seventh show, died of a heart attack on the golf course, and we were knocked off the air because of political correctness. He was my favorite because he was a visionary and a militarist, a deep thinker, had a high element of a spiritual side. I had read a great deal about him and had tremendous respect and love for native Americans. What was it like to play Crazy Horse on the 1967 TV series Custer? I made notes about his character, but I never got a chance to play him. He began to get a little too aggressive, which led to his demise. He was a great horseman, and he and his brother were a team, and his gang was a family. I wanted to make him a colorful character. He was a colorful character, very deceptive and knew the territory and despised the railroad. What real-life Westerner would you most like to have played on-screen? "The Conservation Game" claimed Hanna had ties to the big cat trade across the country, and since then, the zoo has cut ties with animal organizations that were mentioned in the film. “We are furious that the decisions and actions of a few individuals in leadership positions, individuals who are no longer at the zoo, have resulted in where we are today.”Īside from the allegations of misusing funds from former management, a recent documentary also makes allegations against the zoo's former director, Jack Hanna. Ramer placed blame on administrators no longer with the zoo. We’ve also made changes and updated policies to ensure those cannot happen again." "We’ve acknowledged the wrongdoings of the past. Nobody currently working at the Zoo had anything to do with the position we find ourselves in today," said Jerry Borin, interim CEO and President of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The poor decisions of a handful of people should not negate the good work this team does and how much staff members contribute to the AZA through committee work and leadership roles. “At the time of the AZA inspection by the visiting committee in July, we believe the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium met the AZA standards required for accreditation. The Columbus Zoo believes rather than deny it accreditation, the commission could have postponed the evaluation by a year to see if the zoo could sustain changes after the former leadership resigned. The Accreditation Commission also evaluates the veterinary program, involvement in conservation and research, education programs, safety policies and procedures, security, physical facilities, guest services, and the quality of the institution's staff." "We also make sure that animals are provided with enrichment, which stimulates each animal's natural behavior and provides variety in their daily routine. ![]() "Every animal at AZA-accredited institutions undergoes a thorough welfare assessment at least once a year," the AZA said about its process. The misuse of funds was a point of contention with the commission, which is still under investigation by the state of Ohio. In March, former CEO Tom Stalf and the former chief financial officer, Greg Bell, each resigned after allegations surfaced that they cost the institution more than $630,000 by misusing the property for personal profit, such as allowing family to live in zoo-owned houses and giving out no-bid construction projects. The denial follows a challenging year for the Columbus Zoo. "The accreditation visiting team commended the Zoo on 17 points of exemplary work in all aspects of Zoo operation, and the commission’s vote was not unanimous," the Columbus Zoo wrote in a press release Wednesday morning. The lack of AZA accreditation could also restrict staff from continuing their roles in Species Survival Programs and prevent participation in breeding programs, which could impact species conservation programs, according to the zoo. Losing accreditation could affect which animals are brought in to the zoo and could pose a risk for the loss of funding, depending on whether the decision affects the trust of donors. "And that we were an institution that could be accredited and the AZA recognized those changes, right? But they want to see sustained change.”Īn AZA commission evaluates operations and animal welfare at zoos. “We feel like at the time of the inspection we had made the changes that we needed to make," Ramer said. The decision comes as the zoo announced a number of reforms in the wake of several scandals that resulted in the zoo hiring a new CEO. Jan Ramer, senior vice president of animal care and conservation, said the zoo was "shocked" by the decision announced by the AZA on Wednesday. Current zoo leadership argues it has made changes to better operations, and that the AZA could have postponed evaluation to ensure the zoo could sustain those changes rather than deny it accreditation. In March, former CEO Tom Stalf and the former chief financial officer, Greg Bell, each resigned after allegations surfaced that they cost the institution more than $630,000 by misusing the property for personal profit. The commission made allegations against former leadership a key point for the decision. ![]() ![]() ![]() IMO it's is highly under rated how good that setup is especially considering the cost (~60 USD) - Everything direct plays without a single issue even 4k. External components set up the oscillator to run at twice the input frequency and determine the phase and amplitude filter time constants. Its quite humbling really. When the PLL is locked and the input signal amplitude exceeds an internally pre-set threshold, a switch to ground is activated on the output pin. The phase detector and VCO form a phase-locked loop (PLL) which locks to an input signal frequency which is within the control range of the VCO. The device consists of a twice frequency voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and quadrature dividers which establish the reference signals for phase and amplitude detectors.
